Abstract

Hypertension also referred to as Increased blood pressure (HBP), hypertension, is a silent “silent killer” that silently damages blood vessels and results in serious health problems. Although there is no cure, by taking your medications as prescribed and altering your lifestyle, you can improve your quality of life and reduce your risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and other disorders. Hypertension, the leading cause of mortality and disability worldwide, greatly increases the risk of coronary artery disease and stroke. Dementia, chronic renal illness, coronary heart disease, and heart failure are among conditions that are significantly increased by it. The prevalence of hypertension-related events is rising, with stage-1 hypertensive and pre-hypertensive (systolic blood pressure: 120–139 mmHg; diastolic blood pressure: 80–89 mmHg) accounting for the bulk of cases (140–159 mmHg systolic; 90–99 mmHg diastolic). Uncontrolled blood pressure is thought to be the cause of 62 000 avoidable deaths each year in the UK, with Asian immigrant populations suffering particularly from the disease. High blood pressure is one of the most significant risk factors for CAD. High blood pressure causes the heart muscle to have to work harder to pump blood through narrowed blood vessels. The increased pressure on the heart might also result in heart failure. Healthy blood pressure is achieved by controlling your weight, cutting back on sodium, exercising frequently, and managing your stress. If none of these techniques are effective, discuss blood pressure drugs and at-home monitoring with your doctor.
